Press release : Meeting in the French Senate on “Complementary medecine”

On January 22, 2026, the French Senate will organize a day of conferences under the impetus of groups supporting non-conventional care to justify their teaching and frame the support by mutual societies for “complementary” health practices. The French Academy of Medecine reaffirms its opposition to the promotion of alternative care practices that are not based on solid scientific envidence, at the same time that the study mission concerning the “fight against obscurantism and disinformation in health” has just presented his recommendations. It is irrational that an assembly representing a part od the national representation can endorse and legitimize “pseudo-medecines” or non traditional approaches.
The French Academy of Medecine demands the cancellation of this event questioning the foundations of science and rationality in medicine.
