Résumé
La pédiatrie est la médecine de l’enfant, être en développement et adulte en devenir. Le pédiatre libéral en est l’acteur principal ; ses champs d’action sont très variés dépassant largement la médecine organique pour intervenir aussi dans l’environnement affectif, scolaire et socioculturel de l’enfant afin de l’aider à utiliser au mieux toutes ses compétences malgré ce qui peut éventuellement perturber son développement global pour qu’il devienne un adulte sain et parfaitement intégré dans la société. Malheureusement il y a en France pénurie de pédiatres libéraux avec une très grande inégalité de répartition sur le territoire. Il faut donc réorganiser la pédiatrie libérale afin que tout enfant puisse avoir accès si sa santé le nécessite ou si ses parents le souhaitent à un pédiatre de terrain, spécialiste de l’enfant.
Summary
Paediatrics is the medicine of the developing human being, the future adult. In France, this role is mainly ensured by private-practice pediatricians. The pediatrician’s field of action is highly varied, sometimes going far beyond organic medicine to cover children’s emotional, educational and sociocultural environment, with the overriding aim of helping them to make the best use of their skills and to become healthy, well integrated adults. Unfortunately, there is a lack of private practice pediatricians in France and their geographic distribution is highly uneven. Private practice must be reorganized to ensure that all children have access to a pediatrician.
