Membre de l’Académie nationale de médecine (1933) et de l’Académie des Sciences (1961), Robert Debré fut un des principaux fondateurs de la Pédiatrie Française, le promoteur de la réforme hospitalo-universitaire (1958), le créateur du Centre international de l’enfance (1949), le récipiendaire d’un prix Nobel de la paix au titre de l’Unicef (1965). Il présidera l’Institut National d’Hygiène de 1946 à 1964, l’école de santé publique de Rennes (1960) et le Haut Comité contre l’alcoolisme (1954). Nous rapportons ici quelques éléments d’une vie guidée par l’honneur et la passion de servir.
Summary
Member of the National Academy of Medicine (1933) and the Academy of Sciences (1961), Robert Debré was one of the main founders of the French Pediatrics, the promoter of the university-hospital reform (1958), the creator of the International Children’s Center (1949), the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize under Unicef (1965). He chaired the board of the National Institute of Hygiene from 1946 to 1964, the School of Public Health in Rennes (1960) and the High Committee Against Alcoholism (1954). Here we report some elements of a life guided by honor and the passion to serve.
